“Diversity is a fact, inclusion is a choice.”
Come along to a working session with Berlinda and find out about:
In this session, Berlinda will talk about power and privilege and what that means when trying to make sense of diversity and inclusion. You’ll hear about how our mindsets and language impact on workplace culture. Join in the conversation about “what we talk about … and what we don’t talk about”.
Berlinda is a Strategic Specialist at the State Services Commission focusing on ethnic communities.
Hailing from Malaysia and now a naturalised New Zealander, Berlinda started her Public Service career with the Office of Ethnic Communities (previously known as Office of Ethnic Affairs) in 2005. She became the Director in January 2014, where she led a team that provided specialist information and advice on the benefits of ethnic diversity within New Zealand to businesses, government and communities.
She is deeply committed to the values and principles of Public Service and brings with her a wide body of knowledge about diversity and inclusion, many connections and practical leadership experience. Last year, Berlinda was nominated for the Women of Influence 2017 Award, Diversity category.
