Raised on a marae in Hawke’s Bay, and with a dual background in both public policy practice and academia, Manuhuia has provided coaching for public sector leaders in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and USA.

In his work, Manuhuia has taught various courses at a master’s level on leadership development, cross cultural engagement and change management/digital transformation at Massey University, Australian National University, and the Australian and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG).

In his coaching practice, Manuhuia utilises a solution-focused cognitive-behavioral (SF-CB) framework. A conversational and strengths-based approach, this helps ensure that coaching is orientated towards the development of new strengths and goal attainment in a culturally appropriate manner.

Manuhuia brings extensive experience helping individuals and organisations with cross-cultural engagement and increasing leadership effectiveness – particularly within dynamic and changing environments – with a strong focus on the achievement of culturally appropriate organizational effectiveness.

He also has extensive experience working at the Māori Crown Relations interface across a number of sectors, including: health, environmental management, education, and community development.

Manuhuia has a PhD in Public Administration, is a native speaker of Māori and is also fluent in Tok Pisin.
