Join this programme to build your confidence as a public servant using artificial intelligence (AI) safely, responsibly and appropriately in your work.

The facilitated online programme focuses on practical skills, real public sector examples and human oversight. You will be supported to think critically about where and how AI can be used in a public service context, and how to navigate risk, judgment and accountability.

During workshops you’ll have space to explore real‑world scenarios, ask questions, and build confidence applying safe and responsible AI principles in practice. In between workshops you’ll completed self-paced learning to enable rich workshop discussions.

This programme is for public servants who:

  • have completed (or are familiar with) foundational AI learning
  • are beginning to use AI tools, or expect to do so
  • influence how AI is used in teams, projects, or processes
  • want to explore real public sector use cases
  • are keen to learn with and from peers across agencies.

No technical or digital background required.

What’s involved

The programme is delivered online and includes:

  • Three 90‑minute facilitated workshops, delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams.
  • Short self‑paced digital learning (approximately 1-2 hours), which participants complete before each workshop.
  • Facilitated conversation, realistic public sector case studies and applied discussion during live workshops.

  • Programme start: 18 May 2026 (begin self-paced digital learning)
  • Workshop 1: 10am-11.30am, 28 May 2026
  • Workshop 2: 10am-11.30am, 4 June 2026
  • Workshop 3: 10am-11.30am, 11 June 2026

Before you register, please check you have availability for the dates and times above. These are live online facilitated workshops so it is expected you will be able to attend all of them. Also be aware that you will be expected to complete digital learning (approximately 1-2 hours) before each workshop.
