Originally a commercial lawyer and then an organisational development professional, Gretchen’s career has traversed the public, commercial and non-profit sectors – as a leader and consultant. She’s provided coaching services to all levels of leaders and leadership teams for more than 10 years.

Gretchen uses a strengths-based coaching approach to support clients to identify their coaching goals and sustainable, future-focused solutions. All coaching engagements are confidential and paced over a time period to suit client needs.

Gretchen’s style is to both support and challenge in a non-judgemental way. Although Gretchen is non-directive as a coach, she will offer additional models or materials where these will support the client in their goals.

Gretchen has extensive experience of corporate life, as well as providing coaching and consulting services to a range of different client organisations. This gives her a pragmatic perspective on the challenges leaders face working “in and on” the system, and balancing “doing” with “enabling”.

Gretchen encourages clients to use unbiased diagnostics at the start of a coaching engagement to gain valuable insights into individual (and team) strengths, values and assumptions, and to help identify potential blind spots or behavioural risks that might hinder performance or relationships at work.

Gretchen collaborates with Tū Mātau Ora (Taonga Tākaro) in her leadership development work and has a respectful regard for tikanga and te ao Maōri leadership values and concepts.

Gretchen is accredited as a Deeper Signals assessment facilitator, and leadership and team coach. She is also an accredited IECL executive and team coach (Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership) and accredited in Winsborough assessment tools, including Assessio, 360s and Hogan facilitation.
